The phyCORE-OMAP5430 SOM supports the Texas Instruments OMAP5430 processor designed for high performance application support while maintaining low power consumption. The multi-core ARM CortexTM processors and multi-core PowerVRTM SGX544-MPx graphics accelerators aid the phyCORE-OMAP5430 in achieving fast, high-quality image and video capture. The 240-pin SOM interconnect supports interfaces such as USB 3.0 and 2.0, HDMI, simultaneous cameras and displays, and pin compatibility for a seamless upgrade path from the phyCORE-OMAP4.

The Texas Instruments' OMAP5 processor is an advanced architecture which includes a dual-core ARM CortexTM-A15 MPCoreTM foundation complemented by dual-core ARM CortexTM-M4 processors for low-power offload and real-time responsiveness. Multi-core PowerVRTM SGX544-MPx graphics accelerators drive 3D gaming and user interfaces, while other features include a dedicated 2D graphics engine, IVA-HD hardware accelerators for full HD and 3D, and high performance peripheral interfaces.

The phyCORE SOM is designed to plug into a PHYTEC Carrier Board that provides the I/O connectors as well as any other interface circuitry not provided on the phyCORE module itself.
