The phyCORE-AM64x Industrial Communication Kit is a joint development of PHYTEC and IBV and is based on the powerful AM64x processor from Texas Instruments. The kit was specifically designed for testing, evaluating, and prototyping industrial real-time applications. It offers you a complete platform for quickly and practically integrating and validating the industrial communication protocols EtherCAT®, PROFINET®, and EtherNet/IP™.
The PHYTEC BSP, in conjunction with the IBV software extension, enables the implementation of a real-time capable system by utilizing the internal PRUs (Programmable Real-Time Units) of the AM64x SoC. To access the PRUs, the phyCORE-AM64x Rapid Development Kit includes an adapter board with two additional Ethernet ports that can be used with the aforementioned communication standards. This allows for easy implementation of both soft and hard real-time scenarios. In addition, communication between the Linux® operating system and the real-time R5F core of the AM64x SoC has been implemented, allowing your application to directly access real-time data.
To test the individual industrial communication standards directly, various demos were developed in collaboration with IBV. These can be run immediately using the SD card included in the kit and a step-by-step guide. This allows you to get started with your application development even faster.
