Modern EV charging solutions require standardized protocols for maximum compatibility and future-proofing. For vehicle communication, IEC 61851-1 (basic AC charging) and the digital ISO 15118 are essential, as the latter enables functions such as Plug & Charge and bidirectional charging (V2G). DIN SPEC 70121 is also relevant for DC fast charging.
The connection to the backend is established via the open OCPP protocol. Phytec's charging controllers support this protocol as well as CRA (Cyber ​​Resilience Act) compliance and security requirements.

Phytec charging controllers are characterized by a universal and modular architecture. They are suitable for the entire spectrum of modern charging infrastructure: from professional AC wallboxes to semi-public and public charging points for companies, fleets and municipalities, to high-performance DC fast chargers and high-power charging (HPC) systems in modern charging parks.

Phytec charging controllers offer maximum flexibility thanks to their modular system-on-module (SoM) approach: A Phytec processor module or a special SoM for charging electronics, such as the chargebyte Charge SOM, provides the computing power and core functionality. Required interfaces and custom extensions can be implemented easily, quickly, and cost-effectively on customer-specific Phytec carrier boards. At the software level, an industrial-grade, open-source Yocto Linux operating system ensures freedom in integrating custom applications, charging management software (such as EVerest), or customer-specific security protocols.

A prototype for customized charging electronics can be delivered in 10 weeks, based on Phytec's modular concept. Furthermore, development kits and reference designs are available, allowing customers to begin evaluation and development immediately. This significantly reduces the time-to-market for tailored charging solutions.
