i.MX RT1170: the space-saving crossover MCU
The phyCORE-i.MX RT1170 System on Module combines maximum performance with minimal space requirements: at just 30 mm x 30 mm, it is the smallest connectorized SoM based on the NXP i.MX RT1170. Its dual-core architecture with Cortex-M7 and Cortex-M4 enables it to handle demanding real-time tasks and, thanks to its multimedia capabilities, comprehensive industrial interfaces, and the integration of Zephyr OS, offers optimal conditions for demanding embedded applications in the consumer, industrial, and automotive markets.
High performance despite compact SoM design
The high-performance i.MX RT1170 SoC from NXP Semiconductors combines an Arm® Cortex®-M7 with a clock speed of up to 1 GHz and an Arm® Cortex®-M4 with a clock speed of 400 MHz. As a crossover MCU, this architecture combines the advantages of a classic MCU with the performance of an application processor, ensuring high computing power and energy efficiency for demanding embedded solutions.

Multimedia functions
Despite its compact design, the SoM offers a wide range of multimedia functions. The MIPI-DSI interface allows for easy connection of larger displays and direct integration into your HMI. For applications with a camera interface, MIPI-CSI is available for direct camera data acquisition. Additionally, an integrated audio codec supports audio processing. The powerful MCU processes camera data and audio quickly and efficiently – an ideal solution for demanding multimedia projects.
Industrial interfaces
The phyCORE-i.MX RT1170 offers extensive interfaces for industrial applications: Dual Ethernet, 3x CAN FD, and 2x USB 2.0 enable reliable network and device connectivity. Six I2C and nine UART ports are available for peripherals and sensors, ensuring flexible integration into complex systems.
