3D lens data with field of view:
Phytec simplifies camera integration
- STEP files for over 20 lenses available for download
- Including a visualized image area, adapted to Phytec camera modules.
- Comprehensive Services for individual optics, integration and calibration

Mainz, January 14, 2026
Phytec now provides STEP files for over 20 S-mount lenses, adapted for Phytec board-level cameras and including a visualized image area. These CAD models simplify the selection and integration of suitable cameras and lenses. They can be downloaded free of charge from the company's website. Phytec also offers support for camera selection, integration, and calibration, and can supply custom lenses for series production upon request.
With the STEP files of camera modules and lenses, companies can integrate the embedded vision components into the design and visualization of their Products and integrate assemblies. This makes it immediately clear whether the intended installation space is sufficient and minimum distances are maintained. Phytec's 3D data also includes the visualized field of view (FOV) of the lenses, adapted to the Phytec board-level cameras. This allows system designers to directly see whether the selected camera-lens combination is suitable for the installation situation and the overall system, and whether the field of view meets the requirements. Important factors such as the standard working area and minimum object distance are color-coded. The 3D models thus reduce the time and effort required for selecting optical components and accelerate the development of the embedded vision system.
From prototype to individual vision system
Phytec supports companies in selecting and integrating cameras and lenses, as well as in designing embedded vision systems. The company offers ready-to-use embedded imaging kits for numerous processors, including the NXP i.MX 95 and i.MX 93, the i.MX 8M Plus series, and processors from Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics. These kits include a user-selectable camera module and lens and come pre-installed with V4L2 camera drivers and vision libraries in the Linux operating system. Specialized processor units and functionalities such as NPUs and ISPs can be used and tested directly, further accelerating development. Based on over 35 years of expertise and experience with embedded vision projects, Phytec also offers customized solutions. Services, from consulting on cameras and optics to support in design, integration and development, as well as software adaptations and special services such as ISP calibration for individual camera-lens combinations.
Embedded Vision – Made in Mainz
The company manufactures all electronics, including its own cameras, at its Mainz location. In the newly constructed production hall, Phytec has dedicated dust-protected work areas for assembling cameras, including optics and filters. This allows for the complete assembly, adjustment, and calibration of customized optics for series production. Customers thus receive their embedded vision systems entirely from a single source and a single point of contact. This ensures maximum production efficiency and reliable delivery throughout the product's entire lifecycle.
