Out now:
Phytec Development Kit with TI AM62Lx processor

Mainz, October 07, 2025
Phytec presents the world's first development kit from an embedded manufacturer for the Texas Instruments AM62Lx processor. The phyFLEX-AM62Lx FPSC Rapid Development Kit enables the setup of functional prototypes and a rapid start to development with the phyFLEX-AM62Lx System on Module (SoM). This kit is part of Phytec's scalable and pin-compatible phyFLEX product line with FPSC footprint technology. It features a low entry price, high computing performance, and energy efficiency.
The Rapid Development Kit is available now and costs only 99 euros (plus VAT), including all cables and adapters, Yocto Linux operating system, and commissioning guarantee.
In a joint webinar on November 18, 2025, Phytec and Texas Instruments will demonstrate how to implement Linux solutions for cost-sensitive projects with the phyFLEX-AM62Lx SoM
Basis for cost-effective embedded Linux systems
The phyFLEX-AM62Lx Rapid Development Kit provides all the functionality and interfaces of the new Texas Instruments processor on a compact baseboard. These include 2x Gigabit Ethernet, 3x CAN FD, and 8x UART, as well as display connectivity via a MIPI-to-LVDS converter. The Yocto-based operating system is adapted to the Phytec baseboard and also supports all the processor's features. It can be further expanded with add-ons for security and lifecycle management. The kit thus offers an ideal platform for evaluating the processor's features and getting started with development, from prototype to series production.
Developed in close collaboration with Texas Instruments
The phyFLEX-AM62Lx FPSC SoM was developed in close collaboration with Texas Instruments and expands Phytec's product line of interchangeable System on Modules. The phyFLEX SoM utilizes the FPSC (Future Proof Solder Core) footprint for pin-compatible solder modules. This standard enables scalable product variants and upgrades, easy processor replacement, and maximum future-proofing through compatibility with future processor generations. The ultra-flat solder module was designed with a view to cost-effective and robust construction and easy processability from prototype to series production. It is characterized by low power consumption and typically requires no external cooling. With its Cortex-A53 architecture and single-core and dual-core variants, the AM62Lx processor is suitable for applications such as industrial security gateways, HMIs, and sensor data systems.
Linux instead of RTOS: Free webinar from Phytec and Texas Instruments
Phytec and Texas Instruments have been working closely together for many years, giving customers access to the latest processors, development tools, and expertise. On November 18, 2025, both companies will host a joint webinar titled: Linux instead of RTOS: How to Succeed with Linux and the AM62L on a Small Budget. Experts from both companies will compare the advantages and disadvantages of Linux and RTOS and discuss decision-making factors. Other topics include the PhytecProducts with AM62Lx processors, as well as the optimization of Linux systems for use with low-performance processors. Participation in the webinar is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
Through the Phytec Academy, Phytec also offers training for developers and FAEs. Furthermore, Phytec advises and supports its customers based on the "Security by Design" principle on topics such as security, update and device management, as well as compliance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), NIS-2, and other regulations.
