SIDO Lyon:
Phytec presents System on Module with STMicroelectronics STM32MP2 processor

Mainz, September 10, 2025

Phytec will be presenting the phyFLEX-STM32MP2x FPSC System on Module (SoM) for the first time at the SIDO Lyon (September 17-18, Lyon, France) at the booth of processor manufacturer STMicoelectronics. Developed in close collaboration between both companies, it integrates the STM32MP2 series, STMicroelectronics' second-generation processors, into a cost-effective and compact solderable module with FPSC technology. With its high computing power, high-end interfaces, and security features, it is ideal for numerous industrial applications, edge AI, and mobile devices. The phyFLEX-STM32MP2x SoM is configurable in various configuration levels with a single-core or dual-core processor and with or without a GPU. Its pin compatibility with other phyFLEX-FPSC modules enables scalable product variants and upgrades. Development kits with Yocto-based Linux operating system will be available from Q4/2025.

High-end features at an affordable price

The phyFLEX-STM32MP2x FPSC SoM is ultra-compact at 37 mm x 40 mm and, thanks to proven FTGA soldering technology, can be integrated into embedded designs in a cost- and space-saving manner. All processor features of the dual- or single-core Arm Cortex-A35 processor and the Arm Cortex-M33 coprocessor can be fully utilized for real-time tasks. These include high-speed interfaces such as 3x Gbit Ethernet, 3x CAN FD, and 9x UART, as well as RGB, LVDS, and MIPI-DSI HMI interfaces. A 3D GPU with up to 13 GFLOPS supports complex graphics processing. A MIPI-CSI-2 interface and an ISP are available for embedded vision projects. The processor's NPU enables AI acceleration of up to 1,35 TOPS – ideal for video analytics, natural language processing, and other AI applications.

Safe, robust and long-term available

The STM32MP2 processors are pre-certified with the SESIP3 security standard and feature comprehensive IT security features such as TrustZone and Secure Boot. These are supported by the Yocto-based OpenSTLinux. The soldering module was designed for easy processing in high volumes. It is particularly robust and approved for use in an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. With its low power consumption of typically less than 5 watts, the soldering module is also ideal for mobile applications and smart devices. STMicroelectronics guarantees long-term availability for the processor for 10 years, which is renewed annually.

Close collaboration between STMicroelectronics and Phytec enables early access

Phytec and STMicroelectronics have been collaborating successfully for many years and in numerous customer projects. The phyFLEX-STM32MP2x FPSC SoM will be presented for the first time at the STMicroelectronics booth at SIDO. Customer development kits will be available soon.
