Phytec and Vision Components agree to cooperate:
Processor boards and MIPI cameras perfectly integrated

Mainz, February 20, 2025

Phytec and Vision Components have agreed to collaborate on the integration of cameras into embedded systems. The partnership enables users to easily operate all of VC's more than 50 MIPI cameras with Phytec embedded imaging processor boards. The corresponding drivers are already included in the Linux BSP of the Phytec modules. As a first result, both companies will present the Phytec phyBOARD-Pollux embedded imaging kit with an NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor and VC MIPI IMX900 color camera at embedded world. The kit will soon be available through both companies' sales channels, with the VC MIPI camera freely selectable. Customers benefit from the wide selection of image sensors, the perfect interaction with the processor boards, and comprehensive support in the development and integration of their vision projects.

Vision kits with NXP i.MX 8M Plus and i.MX 8M Mini processors
For the phyBOARD-Pollux Embedded Imaging Kit, Phytec has developed a corresponding adapter that allows the VC MIPI cameras to be connected to the processor board using a standard FPC cable. The phyBOARD-Polis Kit with an NXP i.MX 8M Mini processor for VC MIPI cameras will also be offered. Both kits provide customers with near-production hardware, including their desired image sensors from the extensive VC product range. The pre-configured Linux systems and included demo software allow them to jump right into developing their applications, saving development time and costs for series qualification.

Embedded vision know-how from two strong partners
Jan-Erik Schmitt, Vice President of Sales at Vision Components, says:
"As a manufacturer of embedded system-on-modules and processor boards with its own embedded vision department, Phytec has in-depth know-how and project experience. We are pleased about the collaboration, which will allow our mutual customers to benefit from the deep integration of our cameras into hardware and software, as well as services such as the ISP calibration service for NXP processors."

Martin Klahr, Head of Digital Imaging at Phytec, adds:
"We are already successfully working with VC MIPI cameras in customer projects. The extensive portfolio ideally complements our own camera series and enables customers to work directly from prototype to series product with the desired processor board and the camera suitable for the respective application."
