Vision 2026:
Phytec presents phyVIP, the integration platform for edge AI vision.

Mainz, September 07, 2026

Develop embedded vision projects faster and more cost-effectively: Phytec supports its customers as a one-stop shop, from initial development to CRA-compliant series production. The Mainz-based company will present its comprehensive offering at the Vision trade fair (October 6-8, Stuttgart Trade Fair Center). The focus will be on phyVIP, a new integration platform with onboard AI that reduces development effort for customized solutions. Products reduced by up to 70 percent. The company is also showcasing components and services ranging from system-on-modules and processor boards to camera modules, software, and more. Services – up to and including the delivery of customized embedded vision systems with calibrated optics.

phyVIP: The next level of integration for embedded vision

The phyVIP is a novel platform that adds another layer of integration to system-on-modules: key functionalities such as camera integration, Wi-Fi communication, and wide-range power supply are already integrated onto the compact 60 x 73 mm board and supported by the Linux board support package. For scalable computing power, the phyVIP can be configured with the NXP i.MX 95 and i.MX 8M Plus processors; further variants, even during a product's lifecycle, are easily implemented thanks to the interchangeable phyFLEX system-on-modules. Specifically for edge AI applications, scalable AI accelerators and a comprehensive software ecosystem are available, simplifying the optimization and deployment of AI models.

Individual customization with connector boards

For individual customization, the phyVIP baseboard is supplemented with a connector/expansion board via two industrial connectors. This board comprises only the desired interfaces as physical interfaces on a 2- or 4-layer circuit board, making it very easy and quick to develop. Available functionalities range from CAN and Ethernet to USB and RS485, as well as lighting control. Two connector board variants and a development kit are available.

"The phyVIP saves up to 70 percent on development effort because typical requirements for embedded vision projects are already integrated directly onto the baseboard. With scalable processors and AI accelerators, as well as individual connector/expansion boards, it can be easily customized. The phyVIP brings together our experience from over 30 years and numerous projects – and makes it directly usable for our customers."
Martin Klahr, Head of Digital Imaging at Phytec

Comprehensive Services and its own optics laboratory

In addition to the phyVIP, Phytec also presents its system-on-modules and processor boards as a basis for individual embedded systems, as well as camera modules, optics, accessories and ServicesThe latter range from development support and security, CRA compliance, and lifecycle management to optics assembly in Phytec's own dust-protected laboratory in Mainz. Here, optics can be focused and fixed ready for installation, enabling Phytec to deliver complete embedded vision systems, assemblies, or finished devices upon request – always tailored to the customer's wishes and requirements.
